Our main reason for the cruise. Arranged our own visas and stayed in a hotel overnight at Vosstanya and an excellent restaurant the Suliko for dinner. Getting around was easy on the Metro. This allowed us full freedom of movement and allocated our own time at each location. Unless you are g.oing further afield doing your own thing is in my opinion the best option ...

We used TJ tours for two days, No trouble getting off the ship with our tour vouchers and our guide was waiting for us outside Immigration. TJ were excellent and even refunded us the $10 entry fee when we decided not to see St Isaacs church. Bear in mind it’s a VERY busy two days. ...

Booked a private excursion with Alla tours and it was the best decision we made. Marvellous guide on a 2 day tour, saw pretty much everything that we wanted to in a small party (only 10 people on it) which was so much better. Subway trip, Boat trip, Hermitage, Church on the Spilled Blood, Peterhof, Faberge Museum. Brilliant tour loved everything about the place. ...

We used a local operator for our three day excursion, and it was excellent. Our guide was full of historical knowledge on the many attractions we visited. St. Petersburg has some stunning architecture and wonderful palaces. After three days, we were very tired but very pleased with our visit. ...

I am a long-time, experienced traveler and reviewer on TripAdvisor. My reviews often have insights that many find useful. Most travelers interested in the Baltic Cruises are especially interested in the visit to St. Petersburg. Many (including us) know little about the Russian "royalty", the Romanov's, and the history of Russia and Eastern Europe prior to the 1917 Revolution. Visits to St. ...
