Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Encore

We missed the very interesting and historical port of Skagway in favor of spending 12 boring hours in rainy, cold, foggy, Icy Strait. Apparently that was because Norwegian had spent money there to build another dock and a cable car system. Icy Strait is also historical and interesting, but only maybe four hours is enough time in my opinion. ...

Celebrity used Pier 66 for our Alaskan trip. We spent several pre-cruise days at the Charter Hotel by Hilton. The hotel has nice water views and close to the port and the Market. We stayed at an airport hotel the night before we departed for home. Highly recommend coming in early and staying a day or two post cruise to enjoy a great city. Make sure you try the fresh Halibut! ...

They cancelled Seattle and they couldn't get service for customs. This would have been in violation of the Jones act. We left Vancouver and were supposed to go to Seattle where we would have cleared immigration and customs. However, the next day we would have gone back to Canada and then to San Francisco where we would have had to clear immigration and customs again. That was too short a period. ...

Pier 91 sucks to get to unless you go by taxi. We took the light rail and bus which was fine and interesting until the bus part where a drug addict was falling on the floor and then started spitting across the bus like a machine gun. luckily that was when we got off. There is not a single sign to the cruise ship, so expect to wander here. They say a new port will open in South Seattle, oh Joy, ...

Took a taxi to city center and went to Pike's Market. Cost about $12 each way for taxi which was cheaper than the offering on the cruise which was $22 per person. There were also vans offering rides to the city center for $7 pp. ...
