You can walk to the train station. Do it. Buy a ticket to Rome, and get off at the Roma San Pietro stop if you want to go to the Vatican. If you want to go to the Vatican Museums, Coliseum, etc. BOOK TICKETS IN ADVANCE. The lines will be far too long otherwise. Go to Castel Sant'Angelo for amazing views of the city.
