We embarked in Civitavecchia and spent 4 days in Rome before the cruise and stayed in Civitavecchia for 1 day after the cruise. Booked with Rome Shuttle for a private ride to the airport after the cruse and they were on time and excellent. A great price too for 4 of us, 110 euro. Others were charging up to 150 euro for a private ride. ...

In Rome we did the Green Line hop on hop off, didn't really go close to the sites wouldn't do this again ...

Shared a van tour from a provider just inside the port gates, and our driver was excellent. Port day fell on a major holiday, so St Peters and Vatican Museums closed to public, as was the Pantheon. Walked around St. Mark's square, threw a coin in Trevi fountain (best gelato place ever on the corner there), Colosseum and Roman Forum, Spanish Steps, all a must-do. ...

Got to see all of the best highlights of Rome in a very small group. Air conditioned vehicles. Definitely a better value than what the cruise offers. ...

We actually had a three night stay before the cruise so go to see all the most important things in Rome that we wanted to. Fabulous City spoilt only by the constant nagging street sellers the worse being in the Vatican City. ...
