The pier was clean and laid out to easily find things. Shopping at the port was minimal, but some things were nicely priced. Excursion buses were close by. There were no problems or hassles getting back aboard. ...
In Progresso you take a free bus/shuttle to the city. It was a windy day and the beach was dirty. Great thing about the town is that they had $20/1 hour massages right on the beach. We bought a few things, bartering was fun. If you do not venture into town, at least exit the ship and check out little shops right there. Also they have 3 Coronas for $5.00. If you venture into town, you get 3 ...
Progresso!?! Ugh! Had I not been traveling with my son I would have stayed on the ship. I found it dirty, not much to talk about. The beaches were dingy and unkept. We did most of your tourist type shopping here. We did find the prices very inexpensive. We decided to go to a resort for the day at an all inclusive beach resort. Our definition and their definition of a resort are two ...
As far as I am concerned this port gets a bad rap. I enjoyed the small town of Progreso. I do say there is not much to do here except the Mayan ruins. We took the $3.00 tour bus through town which last about 20 minutes. There are cheap massages to be had. My daughter and I paid $20.00 for 45 minutes and received great massages. This was right on the block where we got off the tour bus. I did ...
I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and nice the beach was. Sales people could be a little pushy. Very nice restaurants. Air conditioned bus ride down the pier. ...
Progreso- We booked a tour of Chichen Itza once we were in-port. It was $49 per person which was significantly cheaper than booking the tour on board. It worked out very well as we were the only people on our cruise who booked in port so we ended up with our own personal tour guide. The tour was with Autoprogreso which is the same company that runs the carnival tour. The ruins were neat and there ...
This is a good port to do a land tour if you wish. However, we enjoyed doing only the $3.00 city bus tour and hanging out at the beach. The water was a little cloudy as it's in the gulf. Still much better then being stuck in the middle of the midwest!!! A very nice beach to enjoy if you love sand and the water like we do. ...
Progreso.. It is what it is. It's a very poor city with a lot of things to see. I would always get off the boat and go here if it's on the itinerary. Just remember, you have to go through the cruise area to get to the reality of the actual city. You will have many people hawking their goods and it never stops, but if you just keep walking, they will let you pass. Progreso does business based ...
