We came in a day early and stayed at the Hilton Riverside (booked as an overflow of Harrah's). It is walking distance to the ship, so that was nice. Taxi from airport cost $41, including tip. Accessible to the French Quarter, so we walked around. Went to Mass at St. Louis cathedral before boarding ship, which was lovely. ...

Saturday night we ate at Mulate's which was a couple of blocks from the Hilton. We made reservations for a table for 12 at 7pm. The reservations were not needed, the place was half empty. The food was mediocre, but they did have live music. We then got an Uber for the French Quarter. It was very cold, around 28 degrees. We chose this cruise as a winter break trip for a group of college senior girls who play lacrosse together. New Orleans was closer than Miami for us to drive.
