Take the hop on hop off bus. It gave a great view of the whole bay and the inner city too on the other route. Really good value for money at about 22 euros pp. Tip - take your own earphones to plug into the commentary, more comfy and don't drop out. The tickets lasts for 24 hours. walked off the ship and wandered around naples, if want to do pompei i would take the ncl coach and do pompei yourself for cheapness or do the full tour with ncl, it is a big place and can be very tiring - DO NOT take the local taxis - they can be your best friend at the port offering to take you anywhere but can be not so nice when they have you in the taxi, may be i was just unlucky with the ...

We organised our own trip to Herculaneum where we had a guided tour around the site. The guide spoke good English and was very informative and entertaining. Incredibly interesting, but Naples is a bit rough with high unemployment and is a bit grubby and their trains are very dirty and smothered in graffitti - reminded me of the New York subway! ...
