Livorno is an industrial port, don't expect much from it. It has been heavily bombed during WWII and it was rebuilt. So if you can't get the MSC excursion to Florence&Pisa, pay 5 euros for the Port -downtown shuttle, catch the LAMBlu public bus (tickets can be bought on board) to Livorno train station, buy a 2.5 euro train ticket to Pisa (20 minutes by train) and visit Pisa. ...

Florence €19 return leaves 12mins past hour. Takes 1hr 20mins . We went from liverno station ( cruise shuttle €15 return - euro each person- it leaves ever 20mins each way they work around pisa train times not florence train ) we missed train by 2mins we watched it leave the platform so we went got the train via pisa. We actually docked in Marina Di Carrara and drove onto Florence. What a stunning city. You must not miss this if you have a chance to visit but be prepared for long queues to see the inside of some of the famous landmarks.
