This is an island as the South Pacific was prior to the arrival of the missionaries. These people have nothing in respect to what we think are the basic necessities of life. No running water, sewer system, electricity, doctors/dentists, shops or hotels of any kind. This was a real "eye-opener" for many of the ship's passengers !! Very hot and humid so many were back on the ship in a couple of ...

Actually, it was Christmas Island in Kiribati. There was no listing for this port, so I chose Fanning Island which is in the same archipelago. Not a good port. This was the HIGHLIGHT of the trip!!!!! At the last moment, NCL added an excursion to Volunteer Point. I was beside myself with joy having read so much about it and believing that we would not be able to see it. At $300/person it is pricey but worth it!!!! It was so worth it!!!! We drove in 4X4 for 2 hours to get to the beach. The last hour is only 10 miles but it is all over peat and very slow! ...
