Embera tribe excursion in the Chagres National Park was excellent. Enjoyed it immensely. The ride through the countryside was a definite learning experience. I felt sorry for the residents that their government does so little for them. The countryside should be as pristine as that of Costa Rica. ...

We chose the Domed Railway Tour to Panama City. What a great tour. The air conditioned domed railway car was great. A boxed snack and drink was provided while we crossed the entire isthmus viewing not only the beautiful countryside but the Panama Canal. When we reached Panama City we boarded a bus for a tour of the city and had a lovely buffet lunch at Convivium, located on the Pacific Ocean ...

This would have been fine as a port with excursions to the nearby sights (Fort Lorenzo, Gatun Lake, maybe the canal visitor center) but Colon is not a good place to walk around alone. There isn't anything to do within walking distance of the port, and visitors are advised not to go out alone. We were picked up after the cruise to go to our hotel in Panama City, which was fine. ...

Booked tour through Royal Caribbean: Eco Gatun Lake It was a good tour. Lots of jungle areas again, saw birds, looked for sloths in the trees. The driver took us across a bridge so we could see ships coming out of the Panama Canal. Very interesting. ( You do not see the locks at the Panama Canal ) ...
