You get to experience a lock transfer during the day which is fin. The castle tour was good with a mini bus taking you as far up the hill as possible saving many uphill steps. There is an interesting wall as the bridge describing the city's history. Take a good look! There was plenty of time to explore the downtown before returning to the ship. ...

The ship docked in a nice area in Koblenz. The coach ride to Cochem was about an hour each way but the scenery was very nice. The guide took us through the town pointing out the local sights. The town is hilly with lots of steps and half timbered buildings. We visited the interior of St. Martin Church. We were there on a Sunday but many of the shops were open. The Christmas market itself ...

Despite the late date, the town was crowded. Nonetheless, the visit to the mustard factory and museum was very interesting and we are still enjoying the mustards we took home. ...

Favorite port day of the Paris to Swiss Alps route. Kudos to Klaus; our guide and "keeper of the castle keys". Great tour of Reichsburg Castle, followed by walking tour of the town. Very brief free time (30 mins maximum), then transferred by bus to wine museum for 3-4 tastings. The Riesling was the most requested at dinner that night! I wished there had been just a bit more free time here. ...
