You can take a 5 minute walk to a light rail system and get to Blankenberge in 10 minutes. That city has a cute downtown, but it has an amazing beachfront area with cabanas, restaurants, etc. We should have just stayed there. We arranged our own transfer using an on line provider who also operate from the port. It was a fraction of the cost that the CUNARD excursion would have been. The transfer was fabulous and excellent value. Bruges itself was fabulous, our only criticism is that we didn’t have long enough time there.
