Amsterdam was dirty, the people were rude, and bicyclist were even ruder (if that's possible). Bikes had no regard for traffic laws, traffic lights, or people in crosswalks. The canal cruise we took was very perfunctory and actually boring.

Amsterdam is a great city to visit, and is extremely walkable. Do yourself a favor, though, and don't follow the crowds that walk from Centraal Station to the Dam Square. Take side streets to avoid the less congested, touristy areas. ...
