Too far to the real attractions. This port is mostly about Cairo since it is only used to get on a bus by most and go to the capital. It was a three hour bus ride to see the Pyramids and Sphinx and it was on very poor Egyptian roads. We left Alexandria around 9 AM and didn't return over 11 PM exhausted for the experience. Carior is quite dirty in parts, but seeing the sites was a treat. Lots of ...
I booked with Ramses Tours and again there were just 4 of us on this tour. A word of warning that no matter who you book with, your 2 days in Egypt will be frantic. All the tour operators promise to see all the highlights but it is almost impossible. I'd recommend cutting back on where you visit so you don't feel so rushed.
We spent an hour around Alexandria before leaving for Cairo and in ...
tupe ashen it is impossible to type i will type and iw Instead of a ship excursion we toured Egypt with the help of a local travel agency, Ramses Tours. They picked us up at 6:50 and promptly took us everywhere we desired. Egypt is a goldmine if you like ancient history. Almost everywhere you turn history is peeking out. The pyramids and the museum in Cairo were the best. Ramses Tours made a great ...
Our ship was delayed for 4 hours because the port was fogged in.
Our private tour guide was waiting for us and whisked us away to Cairo and Giza as quickly as possible. Ramses Tours was all you could ask, and I highly recommend them. Our guide, Hanni, and driver, Hussein, treated us like wealthy family members. There are not enough words to describe the experience of Egypt. On one hand there is ...
Considering the city and that you are in the 3rd world, the port is very nice. Security was good and the local venders are screened well and most were polite and provided a good value for the goods offered. I don't recommend wandering out of the port without a taxi, which will be an experience you will never forget.
Do not drink anything but bottled water. Local McDonalds and BK were ok.

Alexandria is a modern industrial city. It is really a gateway for tours to Cairo. I would not recommend going into Alexandria as it's just not that sort of port that you can stroll around in.

The dirtiest, craziest city ever. It is hard to breath here and in Cairo, book through Memphis Tours for a private tour. Good to see and visit, but nice to get back on the boat. The ride to Cairo is 3 hours, but can be as long as 4 with the traffic. You need lots of loose change here to go to the bathroom.

For our first visit to an Egyptian city, we found it both disgusting and fascinating. The palace of King Farouk was fascinating to see, as was the Citadel. The city itself was dirty with garbage littering the streets. Pollution hung over the city like a blanket. The traffic was chaotic and you took your life into your hands when trying to cross a street.

Great tour to Cairo. Saw the pyramid and sphynx. Beautiful and somewhat depressing in that within a couple 100 yards of the great pyramids is a Pizza Hut. The city is totally surrounding the site. I had imagined that it was going to be isolated. The sphynx was used by the Egyptian army for target practice, to which the statue is almost without a nose. Guide very imformative and very protective. ...
