Beautiful but very expensive. Lovely beach just 10-15 mins walk from the landing area (we were tendered ashore), but again prices high ($20 for a sun lounger if required)
We landed in French Marigot, though nicely presented, the quality of shopping did not compare to the Dutch Phillipsburg.
With 7 large ships (incl Oasis of the Seas) in Phillipsburg it was somewhat busy (22,000 day trippers!). There are some great jewellery shops and deals to be had.
Some racing in the America's cup boats in a great experience (and you don't have to be sailors)
Easy access to taxis for a 7 min, $4 ride to The Baths at Devil's Bay. We arrived about 10.30 and the area was heaving, but thinned out very nicely just after 11am.
Others on the ship enjoyed the scenery on trips around the island (on land or sea). The sea excursion took them near to Richard Branson's islands (not certain whether it included Necker which is also nearby)
We used this tour to fill in time between landing and flying home.
The Gator Centre staff were informative, and there is a range of wildlife to be seen, including a couple of alligators during our air boat ride. There is a show afterwards with a dormant gator, and a chance to hold a 4 foot one for a $3 fee.
