Very fun day here!! Our first port after 2 sea days, so was nice to see land. We knew we wanted to go to Maho beach, and it was very quick and easy to grab a cab there. Perfect weather, and gorgeous water/beaches. We went to Mullet Bay, which is maybe a 5 min cab ride from Maho, for a quieter experience to finish the afternoon. One of our favorite ports on the cruise!
We booked a private tour with Serenity tours for the day. Went to Pigeon Island, tey have a TON of tours you can do. Rum punch and a cooler of beer and fresh squeezed juice was included as well. So much to see in St. Lucia, and not enough time!! I wanted to explore more and visit the Pitons and volcano, but our boat cruised down to Soufriere Bay and parked for an hour or two and had a island BBQ buffet, so I did get to see them and take some pics. Very pretty place!
We had the most fun here! Booked a surfing lesson with Boosys surf school, and caught a ton of waves for a beginner!! Awesome experience! Then we went to Rockley beach and had some local beers, jrk chicken sandwiches and just chilled. Went back to downtown for some shopping but such a big town, didnt want to get lost! The people in Barbados were lots of fun as well!
I did alot of research before the trip to find fun things to do, and Martinique was the ONE place i couldnt find much to do! The ship had maybe 7 excursions in this port but they seemed overpriced and figured they would be crowded!! Tour companys on Trip advisor were in french and i dont speak french at all. so we came here without a plan and walked around the town. Everything was closed as I expected based on other reviews, as we were in port on Sunday, but it was kind of cool to hear them in church singing in french and the church bells ringing every hour made the place pretty charming. Walked up a huge hill to some kind of memorial that overlooked the bay where the boat was and it was a nice view! Kind of a boring day for us though.
Went tubing on the Layou River. Very fun!! The river is swift enough you dont have to paddle and there was a couple rough rapids! One of the last rapids alot of people came out of their tubes!! No one was hurt and there were guides stationed all down the river helping through the tough spots so we felt safe. After we got to go grab a rum puch at a cool hotel in the jungle. When the tour ended we did some shopping in Rosseau, loved the vibe in this little town! One of our faves!
Busy Busy day in St Thomas!! Had quite a few boats in port this day, including the Oasis of the Seas, so glad I checked who was going to be in port ahead of time!! Chartered a sailboat with fantasy daysails and we did not regret it!! There were only 4 others on the boat, they do not take more than 6 people out, and we got open bar, 2 snorkling trips around little St. James, lunch and a really cool experience for us since we had never been on a sailboat. We cut it a liiiitle close on the way back as our cab was late picking us up and its quite a long drive to Redhook from Crown Bay, but we made it back in time!!
Rained!!! We were looking foward to a beach day, but started off with clouds and thinking it would clear up but just got worse!! monsoon rains!! had to go back early and jump in the hot tub on the ship! This would be quite a cool place weather cooperating, the Captain Morgan on the Rocks bar was cute! We will have to visit again some day.
