This is a beautiful city with a wonderful natural setting. There are beaches along most of the the coast including the famous Copacabana and Ipanema. There is even a forested national park right in the middle of the city. We visited the Christ the Redeemer statue on Corcovado mountain and took a drive around the city. We were there at Carnival time and went to the Sambadrome one evening to see the competition which was a fabulous experience.
