This is a FABULOUS port small and fast. Our first cruise we went out of NY and it seemed to take far longer in NY. Baltimore was great. We had some sensitive items with us and they took us to a separate area and we went thru security privately so that everyone didn't have to hear we were doing an as scattering ceremony on board. I travel with a CPAP and they were great about checking it. The bags if tagged prior to arriving at port go right in to containers and you don't have to lug them with you. With a part of 5 that was very helpful. We used go to airport shuttle for transportation and they were great getting to the port. I love Baltimore's port.
We picked the Disney excursion while in Port Canaveral. I did like the fact that we arrived at port at 7 and were on the bus at 7:45. The trip was about an hour to get to Disney. The company they used for the excursion was great. We sat in the front seats of the bus so our son could see out the window. We took our booster seat with us. They let us leave it on the bus during our Disney visit. We had to make sure it was tagged so if we ended up on a different bus they could drop it at the ship. We didn't really need to take the booster they told us it was not needed for these types of buses. The driver used his directional and went the speed limit. He was a very safe driver. Told us about Port Canaveral on the way to Disney so we got a little history lesson. Disney was great. This was our sons 4th trip so we let him pick the rides he got to go on for the time we had there. I did not like the fact that we had to return to the bus at 4:30 because we had to get back to the boat by 5:30. We were in port until 7:30 why did we need to be back to the boat so early? But oh well we still had a TON of fun. PS. make sure you check Disney for closures some of the rides we wanted were closed for renovations. We can't wait to go to Disney in 2013 to see the finished fantasyland area.
We got to Nassau the next morning. We booked the excursion to Atlantis. It got cancelled due to a gas leak on the pier no one in or out. We got a full refund for the excursion. 2 hours later the port was reopened but at that time our son was playing in the VERY COLD UNHEATED pool and we just let him stay there so we never got to do anything on Atlantis. Carnival accommodated us by staying a half hour longer in port, not sure what they expected a half an hour would do.We watched a lot of people stumble back to the boat from Senor Frogs. one lady was so bad during this port she came back on ship and fell down. Yet they still gave her more to drink on the ship. They need to moniter that better.
Next we got to Freeport. What a dump. We were supposed to go on the glass bottom boat ride which got cancelled due to wind? Umm what wind it was calm that day just overcast. We went on the Freeport shopping and bus tour. Our bus driver Hue was great. First we went to a "shopping area" it was like an alley with shacks and people selling junk. Next we went to the resort area shopping that was better. They had a casino and lots of shops. We wish the bus dropped us off closer to the beach as we didn't get to go to the ocean on this island either. We were only at this stop for an hour so there wasn't enough time to change and swim then back to the boat. DO NOT eat at the huts right off the ship. My husband went to get us lunch or chicken and conch and shrimp, 30 minutes later he was still waiting and watched SEVERAL drug deals happen. When we finally got our food it was raw in the middle. What a waste. We wish there was more to do on Freeport. Back on the boat by 1:30 not a long stay.
