We did the Robert tours of the Iao Valley and Maui Tropical Gardens, and of the Haleakala Crater. The crater was great. Do not choose the sunrise option, as people who did got to see clouds and fog. Our mid-morning views were great. It is cold at the summit - 42 degrees F with wind. We did not shop or dine on Maui.
This was our most anticipated port because of Volcanoes National Park. We went on the ship's shore excursion for this. They use Polynesian Adventure Tours. This our best tour and best day overall. Our driver took us to every overlook that was open in the park, also the Jagger museum and lava tube. In the afternoon we went on helicopter ride over the lava fields near the coast, using Safari Helicopter Rides. This was our favorite activity of the whole trip. I highly recommend it. We did not shop or dine on the Big Island.
We did not plan anything for this day. It turned out to be a stroke of luck, because you had to take a ferry to shore at this port, and there was quite a crowd trying to get ashore in the morning for their excursions. We waited until after the rush and went to a nice public beach right near where the boat let us off. For a small fee you could rent chairs and an umbrella. Our wait staff friends on the shape told us about this. We did not shop or dine on the Big Island.
We were docked at Nawiliwili for two days. The first day we went to Waimea Canyon (Grand Canyon of the Pacific) with Robert Tours. Very nice. We went to the public beach near the Marriot in the afternoon. We left the next day unscheduled and did the beach again. We did not dine or shop on Kauai.
