Gorgeous green island, clean, and wonderful snorkeling. We rented a car from Albert's (automatic, with air) for about $100 and drove all over the island, stopping for photos, walks and lunch.

Papeete is a busy place, but it is easy to get away from the traffic. We took an island tour and loved it. The waterfall is stunning.

Go to the market in Papeete and buy a lovely flower arrangement in a container. Only $10, and the gardenias and other tropical flowers smelled lovely in our stateroom for a full 10 days. Lots of local crafts at the market. We also bought papaya, passion fruit, limes and those tiny bananas for our room - yummy! For some reason, there was very little papaya on board the ship's buffet, but we could only get just a little if we asked for it special in the dining room.
