You can walk in to town from the ship and wander around.

Puntarenas (Puerto Caldera)

Puerto Caldera is just a container port and is a couple of miles from anywhere. There were shuttle buses in to town. We had a private tour and no one told us we had to find our giude outside of the port, and you were not allowed to walk around the port, so our day didn't start well. Once we found our tour guide we had a great day.
