Wonderful city with a rich European heritage and delicious restaurants with very friendly people. Don't miss the La Boca district. Seeing the tango dancers, the shops and the local artists was quite memorable.
Took a Jewish highligts tour offered through Celebrity. Excellent tour with many stops showing Jewish culture and heritage. The Holocaust Memorial is dramatic and unique...not to be missed.
Took a Celebrity shore excursion on a catamaran to Sea Wolves Island, the light house at the end of the world, and Tierra del Fuego National Park. The catamaran ride was excellent, comfortable and allowed us to see cormorants, sea lions, and sea elephants up close. Tierra del Fuego park is not very pretty but the landscape is outstanding. The views of the Andes mountains are spectacular.
Got off the ship and walked into town. It was just 4 blocks to town square. There's a lovely craft market in town where they seel alpaca everything...sweaters, hats, scarves, gloves which made great gifts. We felt safe during our walk into town.
we took a Celebrity shore excursion to Petrohue Rapids and Puerto Varas. The rapids were nice but too many bugs and horse flies. the Osorno Volcano is in the background wherever you go and it is a lovely sight. Our lunch in Puerto Varas was delicious but the town itself is not much to see.
we delarted the infinity in Valpairso and took a Celebrity shor excursion to Vina del Mar and then to Santiago's airport. Vina del Mar is a lovely seaside resort with beautiful flowers. The views from the top of Santiago is excellent but there is a lot of pollution which obstructs things.
