Half the fun is the traghetti ride from the ship to Avalon; the other half is the return. Nice to see the port, etc. (the setting reminded us a bit of Amalfi Coast) but no big deal.
Everywhere one goes in the world one can judge a city's tempo by visiting the major fish market. Unfortunately, Ensenada's fish market was a poor hopeless joke and we found the city to be the same although we ultimately through sheer perseverance did find some real shopping only on Avenida Lopez Mateos around the Villa Marina hotel.
