We had been to Aruba twice so we didn't sign up for any shore excursions. We just walked around the town and went a little further than we did on our last 2 visits.
Beauties of Curacao. This was an interesting tour as it gave us an overview of the island. We also stopped at a local artist's residence to look at her paintings. The town of Willemstad is very colourful. We walked across the Pontoon Bridge to see the other side of the island.
We didn't take any shore excursions as we had been here before. We were not impressed with St. George's. Very dirty with lots of people chasing after you to look at their wares or take tours.
We booked a 4 x 4 Island Safari and Harrisons Cave Expedition. This was a very good tour. Saw quite a bit of the island - our tour guide was good and was quite informative. The trip into Harrisons Cave was excellent. Lots of staglamites and streams and water falls. Very impressive. We were not impressed with Bridgetown. Very dirty.
The original tour we wanted was cancelled so we signed up for another one. This would have been a good tour if the microphone and air conditioning were working. Consequently the tour guide could not be heard. Also the bus was very small. I moved to back so I could stretch out. Lunch was provided at one of small hotels. This was so so - could have been a bit warmer. By the time we got back there was not much time to see the town.
As mentionned above this was a terrible excursion. Blackbeard's Castle was just a tourist rip-off - all they wanted you to do was to spend money. When we were dropped off we were told that this was the end of the tour with our tour guide. We had to make our own way back to the ship. Terrible excursion. Would not recommend this tour at all.
Rating:
This was a terible excursion. We were on these open air buses with the tour guide sitting in front. Could not hear her at all. St Peter Great House was interesting and the views were quite impressive.
