We took the Pompeii tour and it was excellent. We also talked to several people that took the Herculaneum tour and said it was excellent as well.

The town is very pretty, with lots of shops and restaurants to explore if you wanted to just walk around. Several of the restaurants had nice views of the sea, and our ship at anchor.

Taormina

It is kind of hard to rate this one, as we informed the evening before we were to arrive that we could not dock at Taormina. The waterfront area was closed off due to an automobile show and race.

So, we ended up just down the coast in Messina, much larger city.

The Taromina tours left as scheduled. We did not take a tour that day, so spent 2 hours taking a nice walk around the city and came upon some interesting sights. It was Sunday, so just about everything was closed, so it make for a nice, quiet walk. It sprinkled a little that day, so most people just stayed onthe ship.

Malta

This was an interesting stop that we wished we would have had more time to explore. We took the "Two Capitols" tour that was great. A must-see is the St. John's Co-Cathedral. Awesome. According to our guide, Malta has about 14 days of rain per year. Unfortunately we hit one of the, so had a little rain and wind to deal with, but not too bad. The town had lots of nice shopping, and other things you could see on your own without a tour.
