The least touristy of all ports, we took a private tour of the Turtle conservancy. The turtle part was a bust - whole thing was under construction. The panga boat ride through the mangroves, however, was fantastic - a ton of birds and gorgeous sights. Don't be excited about the salt mines! I heard wonderful things about the tours to Colima-the historical sites including pyramids. Would rather check that out next time!
I live in Los Angeles and was not so excited about this port. We took a wine tasting trip and it was pouring rain so I didn't have a chance to form a real opinion about the port but it seemed clean and the people are making a real effort to erase the industrial feel of this location.
