DC0743's Port Reviews of Fort Lauderdale, Cartagena (Colombia), Colon (Cristobal), Puntarenas (Puerto Caldera), Puerto Vallarta Celebrity Infinity cruise in October 2011
Great town. Good public transportation. Highly recommend The Downtowner Saloon for lunch. The best beef dip sandwich anywhere! Good shopping downtown. The water Taxi is a good way to get a tour.
Colon was not a very interesting City. The tour went to Panama City. The drive takes about 90 minutes, but was worth it. Panama city is interesting. Good tour guide. Crazy bus driver. (Mister Toads Wild Ride)
Puerto Vallarta has improved greatly over the past year. The town is much cleaner and an extensive pedestrian area has been created. Great restaurants - Would highly recommend Mi Querencia. Great shopping city
Cabo has improved a lot over the past year. The port area and downtown are significantly cleaner. Great restaurants and shopping. The enclosed mall has a few shops that have great artisan pieces at prices less than some street vendors. As for restaurants, try El Mole Mio on Marina street (not far from Cabo Wabo) for great Margaritas and the best tamales with mole sauce.
Tons of things to do and see. The zoo, Balboa Park, Midway museum, Gaslamp District, and old town are just a few. The Red Line is a great way to get around.
