The markets were O.K. but usual New England type shops. The weather was mild but very windy so walking the Freedom Trail or walking anywhere in Boston presented a problem. Also, since we are from Philadelphia, we were disappointed in the historic points of Boston - not near as nice as Philly. There was an excursion trip to Salem and that is a really interesting city, we would highly suggest that one.
We absolutely loved this port. Wished we were docked here for an additional day. Beautiful and true New England. It's a shame the leaves were not as brilliant as other years but still a picture postcard. The lobster bisque is not to be missed.
We could have missed this port and we would not have been sorry. Very depressed looking area with no redeeming qualities. We feel that the cruise should be kept in the USA and along the New England coast. There are many other ports especially in Maine and Mass that people would have enjoyed.
Because of weather, this port was missed and replaced with Portland, ME. Good choice. We are assuming Halifax is as dismal as St. John's and we did not need to see it.
