Quebec City
Port Rating:
To save time & energy, we took a taxi from the port to the Citadelle and after touring that, walked back through the upper and lower towns, which worked out very well, although we walked rather fast as the wind was icy cold. But we had time to poke into shops, churches, the Fontenac Hotel & the Muse de la Civilization, where the exhibit about the First Nations was especially interesting, as well as the temporary exhibit about Rome.

Halifax
Port Rating:
Because of bad weather, we had skipped Sydney & arrived in early evening in Halifax, so after dinner we took a taxi for a brief nighttime tour, and got a beautiful view of the city from the Citadel & a drive through a neighborhood of old mansions, with interesting comments from the driver.
We took the ship's tour to Peggy's Cove, which was spectacular -- sunny weather, but such a cold wind that most people took a look & headed for the gift shop, so it was not crowded around the lighthouse & rocky shore. We also stopped at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery, which was a moving experience, and then had tickets for the HOHP busses all afternoon, which worked out well -- we visited the Citadel, Public Gardens and Maritime Museum, but were a bit rushed.

Bar Harbor
Port Rating:
To see Acadia National Park, unless you really want to go up Cadillac Mountain, don't book a trolley or other tour but take the free HOHO bus from Village Green (you do need to buy a pass to the park there unless you have a lifetime pass, which covers the owner & guests at all national parks & is available to those 65+, which DH bought there.) There are 3 routes but you can change from one route to another at different points, using the maps provided by the park. We stopped at Thunder Hole, Sand Beach and Jordan Pond, having an OK lunch at Jordan Pond (tasty popovers, OK sandwiches & beautiful view). LL Bean funds the bus & donations are optional.
We left time to poke into the shops in Bar Harbor & walk along the shore to see the 19th century vacation homes.
