Wonderful!! Spectacular architecture, so much to see and do. Loved all of it. We did the Hop on Hop Off bus and this was a great way to see the city. We couldn't have seen all of what we saw with out doing this. We rented a two bedroom apartment that was near the trains and buses and easy walking to many areas. All of the food was good everywhere we ate.
The train was easy to find at this port. We took the train to Monaco/Monte Carlo. We spent the day on our own exploring. If you want lunch is seemed to be cheaper in Monaco right on the water front. On the way back at the train station the lady in the train office told us to stand at one end of the train station but it turned out that the train never stopped there. It always stopped in the middle. So, we missed the first train and had to wait for the next. Other than that is was a great day.
We did Pisa/Florence through the excursion from the ship. We had about 1hr on our own in Pisa and a little more than three hours on our own in Florence. We loved Pisa and wished for a little more time. We had plenty of time in Florence since we didn't go to any of the museums. It was a nice city.
We took the fast train to Rome (45 mins)on our own. $15 Euros Round Trip. We did this on our own. When we got there we did the Hop on Hop Off bus and this was a great way to see the city on an open top bus and get on and off when ever you want. The return train (only one time for fast train) left at 4:40pm. so don't miss it or you have to buy slow train ticket for next train.
I'm not rating this high for Naples but for what it has to offer outside of Naples. We did the ships excursion Amalfi Coast/Pompeii by motor launch. This was a great excursion. We went to Sorrento to get on a boat and sail along the Amalfi Coast and stop in Amalfi for about an hour. We got back on the boat and went back to Sorrento to get back on the bus to head up the mountain to a castle for lunch. Great views up there!! Then on to Pompeii for the rest of the trip. On the way back to the ship by the port you could see make shift houses and trash everywhere. This had to be the most trash on streets of any port or city that I have ever seen. It's a shame that you have to go through Naples to get anywhere else.
