Self guide walking tour. Didn't visit or take a tour of Anne of Green Gables which most tours were of that or was included. Didn't interest us. Visited the Basilica in town which was impressive and also learned some history of Canada at the Province House in town.
Loved this city. Has a great feel of Europe. Take pictures and visit the Chateau Frontenac as well as the old city cafes'. We took a tour of the old and new city. Very good tour plenty of history and picture stops. The best was floating down the St. Lawrence and barely making it under two bridges and power lines. This the largest ship to sail to Montreal, so we had to leave at low tide to make it under the bridges and power lines.
This was our disembarking port. Stayed an extra day at the Fairmont Le Reine Elizabeth. Excellent accomodations in the heart of Old Town. Easy walking to sites in the area. We took a Grey line bus tour around the town. It was three hours which was pretty long for what we saw. Included was a stop at the old Olympic Stadium and associated housing, Notre Dame Basilica very picturesque, the church where Celine Dion was married, Chinatown and a map review of the underground city. This was a good overview, but too long. We enjoyed the city, but it was very expensive.
