Tour Copenhagen Panorama. Raining on arrival, sunny in afternoon. Port very nice with shops at the side. Little Mermaid within walking distance of ship - but can get very crowded. Copenhagen was ok. Watched the changing of the guard as the heavens opened with thunder thrown in for good measure. Streets a bit narrow as so many roadworks going on.
Did the Skyview tour. Loved it. The view from the top was amazing - and although the sun wasn't shining, there were enough breaks in the cloud to do the city justice. Did a coach trip around too. Very pleasant city. Want to go back.
Did the Vintage tram tour. More rain in Helsinki too. Tram ride was about an hour and it was a great little tour around the city. Finished in the main square, sun came out (typical) and we had about 15 mins to take photos etc. Lots of shops around if you make your own way by getting the shuttle bus to and from the centre. Would recommend this tour.
You do have the option of leaving the tour and making your own way back on the free shuttle bus.
I had high hopes for this city. Sadly the weather made it look grim (especially at the port where you see loads of tenement blocks).
Day One More rain. Did the Picturesque St Petersburg tour. Took us to the main square where it was absolutely pouring. Then drove around the maze of streets before ending up by the side of a canal for our boat tour - about half hour. Water was choppy and the rain got heavier. Back to coach for journey back to ship. Sea fog rolled in.
Day Two Pavlosk Palace and carriage ride. After losing two hours over the last two nights due to time differences we were like walking zombies for this tour. Had to be up at 6am for breakfast for an 8am start. Took a nice drive out of St Petersburg where the weather for this day remained cloudy but dry. Comfort stop at a local out of town supermarket. Had about an hour on the carriage ride before taking a look around the inside of Pavlosk Palace. Didn't get to see all of it as time ran out.
If you are into museums and palaces then you'll have a great time. St Petersburg was not for me.
Lovely city. Did a 6 hour tour which started with a coach trip around before going for comfort break then walking tour. Started walking in the Upper (Old) Town. Took the short walk (short as in short footsteps as hill down quite steep) down to the Lower (New) Town.
Had lunch included then about an hour to ourselves to look around the shops on Viru Street. You can watch a medieval concert if you wish as part of the tour.
Afternoon tour - Scenic villages and chocolate. Took a coach drive around Flanders. Had a quick stop in Damme. Back on coach then off to chocolate shop. Watched a demonstration and tried the chocolate. It's very easy to go overboard here and it would appear that this shop is more expensive than those actually in the city. Heavens opened with thunder, lightning the lot. Hubby was on a different tour and thought that his chocolate was less expensive than mine.
