Very easy to walk to some fantastic shopping areas from the shuttle drop off point. Barcelona is a beautiful, clean, energetic, unique and vibrant city. I definitely want to go back for an extended visit. I would strongly recommend coming in a few days early or stay a few days extra if this is your port of embarkation.
Cute port city--we chose to stay in town and explore the village and waterfront but others on the cruise had a great time on excursions the relatively close Monaco. This is a very typical small historic European town is a gorgeous Mediterranean setting!
Our port of call was La Spezia, Italy. Most of our fellow passengers went to Pisa or Florence from here. We chose instead to take a 20 minute local train to a beautiful coastal area called Cinque Terre. This is an Italian National Park featuring five small coastal fishing villages which are all postcard charming! We had a great day and enjoyed some fantastic local food.
Port of Civitavecchia--of course, you must go to Rome from here! We paid for a driver and guided tour of this world-class and historic city. The food was amazing and the views of the city memorable. I would recommend against going on your own by train due to heavy cruise traffic at this port.
The most beautiful port of call with Mt Vesuvius as a backdrop. Our trip to the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii were the highlight of our cruise. And we thought Rome would be hard to beat! We got a driver and guides to take us to all these sight--it was well worth the money.
