There is so much to do in Seattle. We stayed an extra day to take it all in. The food in Pikes Market is just amazing. We took the food tour and after sub-par cruise food it was heaven. Beecher Cheeses and Pear Market were two of our favorites. There are many places to eat around the Market as well. So many great opportunities for families and children: the Aquarium caters to small children, as does the Pacific Science Museum, which boasts a huge IMAX theater. For sci-fi and music nerds, like we are, the Experience the Music Project was stellar. We stayed at the Edgewater Inn and again were blown away by the service, the attentiveness of the hosts, and the location. Very close to the Norwegian Pearl's docking if you decide to take that cruise. It was fifty feet from my balcony. Sunset cruise around Puget Sound was extremely informative about the city. Loved Seattle! If you can, EAT at the Space Needle. The food was great, as was the service, and the view can't be beat!
Beautiful area, great shore excursions available, very cheap jackets and fleeces at their stores, which are right off the boat. If you forgot to bring gloves or ear coverings for when you go to the glacier, you can stock up here.
Excellent shore excursions, fun places to eat, the locals are the friendliest I have ever been around, and tons of jewelry stores. You do NOT have to book with the cruise lines for Juneau! It's not worth the money. Orca Enterprises was great.
Not a ton to do other than ride the train into BC and go canoeing, kayaking, etc. Lots of fun, to do these things! We saw salmon running while we were there--would be a GREAT place to go for a long hike. See if you can find a guide before you leave for your cruise--it would probably be more fun and less money that way.
I think it would be much better as a port if the ship docks earlier in the morning. Lots to do before 6 PM. When you port in at 7:30 PM, that really makes it less fun. The parliament building is fun to take pictures of. Lots of bars that serve authentic Alaskan/BC/Vancouver area beers.
