Regatta was the first of 5 ships to dock/anchor on the 4th of July. This combined with a huge parade at 11:00 made for a crowed town. An excursion early in the morning made for a great day. Unfortunately too many people around to try to sample dining.
This is a small working town that does not totally cater to cruise ships - a good thing. Although there were not many sights to see, it was fun to walk around. We tried to figure out a way to do the train ride in Skagway but were unable. We did book a Fast Ferry on our own to Sitka - do not recommend going to the town when there are 4 super cruisers docked. Too many people and jewelry stores (but a good quilt shop if you are interested).
THis town has been redesigned to accept cruise ships. Good place to take excursions. We did the Tribal Dance & Culture Center and were pleasantly impressed. I have a new understanding of the Tglingt tribe.
