There were a variety of activities and tours available at this port. We chose the Butterfly Farm and Marigot. Although the Butterfly Farm was smaller than expected, due to damage from numerous hurricanes, it was very informative in that we we learned about the types of plants that support butterflies during their various stages of development. There was an interesting variety of larvae, cocoons and hatched butterflies from several parts of the world. Ample time to ask questions and explore on our own was provided. The few middle school aged children on this tour seemed to remain interested and not bored.

In Margot, we chose to visit the hilltop Fort instead of shopping. Our heart pounding climb was rewarded with excellent views or the harbor and town.

We had considered the Mountain Biking tour but later found out that it had been cancelled. It's always go to have an alternate tour in mind should your first choice be cancelled.

We chose the tour to Taganana. The scenery was awesome but could be frightening to someone who fears heights as the bus travels well-maintained but twisting mountainous roads. It was interesting to see trees on an island that has no rain and to learn that the trees survive on moisture from the clouds.

There is a snack included but it was at 9:30a, shortly after breakfast, and a long time before our return to the ship at 1p. It would have been helpful to know this ahead of time so that snacks could have been brought along, if desired.

Grand Cayman is not the correct port. The correct port is Gran Canaria but it is not available from the drop down menu.

We took the Agaeta Valley Tour.

Participants should beware that although this tour is listed as moderate, there is a very steep goat path and several steep streets. This tour is moderate if you are in good health but I would consider it as strenuous for folks who are not accustomed to regular exercise. On our tour there were several participants who were not able to do the walking that was included. People with artificial knees, canes, foot surgery boots, overweight. The guide astutely arranged for cars to take them up/down the steep streets.

The RCL tour description also didn't do justice to the variety of scenery and information that this tour offered. The views of the natural rock formation called the Finger of God and the historic Red House were awesome. The garden of the Red House contained a wide variety of desert and tropic plants. Then the tour was capped with a visit to a family owned vineyard.

This was by far the best tour of the entire cruise for us.

We highly recommend the Jameos del Agua & Mirado tour. This tour demonstrated the contributions of Cesar Manreque to the economic development of Lanzarote. The white crabs and vegetation in the lava-formed Cave of Water is not to be missed.

The guide rearranged the order of the tour in hopes that we would have a view La Graciosa but the foggy weather did not cooperate.

We were once again impressed by how well maintained the roads are in the Canary Islands.

This was the third time we had been to this port so we just took the shuttle downtown. For a first time visitor we would recommend taking the cable car to the top of the mountain and riding a toboggan down. We also recommend a visit to the market to enjoy folk music (free) and shop for souvenirs. We returned to the ship early due to the rain which lasted most of the day.
