The Windsong Lodge was outside of Seward. We really wanted to go in and see the aquarium, but we were too tired. We thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant at the lodge. We did wish we had gotten into Seward a little earlier to have more time. Exit Glacier trip was very nice. We felt a little rushed to get up, catch the exit trip and hurry to get to the ship. We arrived at the cruise terminal about 2:30. It was hectic. The lines were very long and it didn't seem as if enough people were working to check everyone in. We finally got on board about 3:00. On board, we met our cabin stewards, the concierge in the Neptune Lounge and explored the ship. We were very impressed with our suite. It was huge. The balcony was very large and comfortable.
Haines is a quaint, little town. We fell in love with it. We had enough time to wander about the town before we did our shore excursion to Glacier Point. We saw some of the same things we did on the exit glacier tour, but it was still very enjoyable. We were able to walk all over Haines without problems. Discovered a great custom knife shop. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. Would love to go back to Haines again.
We did the Best of Juneau shore excursion. Started with whale watching, followed by Mendenhall Glacier and Orca Point Lodge. A terrific day. We saw so many humpback whales, orcas, bald eagles. It almost looked fake. Four orcas jumped out of the water and did the most beautiful choreographed dive. This was one of the best excursions we did. Juneau was delightful. We had enough time to do some souvenir shopping, too. A new diamond ring was a very nice touch. We highly recommend this shore excursion. Well worth the price. The catamaran was large, comfortable and the guides were very knowledgeable.
