After seeing the highlights in Athens and doing a bit of shopping in PLAKA there is not much else. Felt very dirty after touring for a few hours...only felt this way at this port stop. Must be the pollution and dirt.
Clean, modern city and once you get the hang of using the metro system, it is pretty easy (have turkish lira such as a 5 or 10 TL bill...insert into machine and then select 'english' language to get tokens for subway). Hit the highlights and did some shopping. Definitely be careful and don't hesitate to negotiate. Grand Bazaar was very crowded!!
Dirty city..not clean, stinky garbage laying around. Walked to train station..not too difficult but it is a good walk from port. Local train to pompeii and sorrento. Train not nearly as nice as the train from Rome to Civitivecchia.
At least from this port you can get to several other tourist areas (Capri, Amalfi coast, etc).
