Did not like our inability to just drop off our luggage without a porter and their tip. The porter got huffy when I asked to just drop off my luggage personally rather then putting it on his card and he moving it three feet and sending it on it way into the ship. I'm sure the porter ended up flagging our bags... I ended up having to go down to deck 2 the first night to collect my luggage -- our luggage was flagged for having stuff that was not suppose to be brought aboard.... obviously, once rescanned they detected nothing and I received an apology. The staff person said he could not understand why we were flagged.
Colon is terrible, but the tour was super! They took us to the three close by locks and we were shown the working waterway, seeing the ships proceed through and people to explain the history of the Panama Canal. This tour was well worth the cost -- $67/person
Took a seven hour "Costa Rica Traditions" tour and it was super. We visited a coffee plantation and toured the process. It really was educational, the lunch was super and since the bus was small (18 persons) the trip was very enjoyable. Costa Rica is a wonderful place to visit and tour!
We did not participate in a organized tour, we tendered ashore and really enjoyed ourselves just walking around, seeing the shops, looking at the port, and enjoying some chips and guacamole and margaritas at a local restaurant. This is a neat port and really enjoyable to just walk and soak up some rays!
