St George's is a beautiful, quaint fishing village type place with nice shops and eateries. International and locally made goods are available and high quality. I would rather not dock here because of the problem that HAL had with getting us from ship to shore. It is very easy and convenient to ferry from Hamilton. We decided to bus from St George's to Hamilton (our next port) and meet the ship there later in the evening for dinner, stopping along the way at the Botanical Gardens.
Hamilton is a great port for shopping, sightseeing and for easy access via ferry or bus to any other place on the island including beaches.
It is not as safe at night as it was the last visit we made 18 years ago.
One caution about docking on Front street in Hamilton - if your cabin is on the Front street side of the ship, there is a nightclub directly across from the port building that blares music until 3:00 AM every night at which time a couple of fights break out. Of course, you could always join in.
