This stop was livened up by the Marseille marathon taking place. Nice promenade area, but the town itself was extremely dirty with graffiti everywhere.
Great city with plenty to see. However the ship sailed at 3pm, so our visit was curtailed by the early departure. We took an open top bus tour ourselves.
Valetta is a lovely city. Very old with a great deal of history. Took the open top bus tour which was a waste of money. Much better to explore Valetta on foot, or just jump on the local transport. Very cheap port.
Actually docked at Messina. Just another Italian town with nothing of great interest. We regretted we didn't take the excursion to Taormina as others said it was lovely.
Always a great city which we never tire off. The MSC excursions were very expensive but you have to go. Favourites sites are the Vatican...don't miss the museum, cistine chapel and the basilica. The Colosseum is unmissable also.
