Hong Kong is a magical city to visit. It is reached by tender. The Star Ferry goes across the harbor and is free for seniors. Hong Kong is definitely one place where one day in port is just not enough. The Star Ferry terminal is right next to what is probably the largest mall in the world. It is beautiful and has every single store you can imagine. It even has a stamp vending machine and a drop for mail.
We took a bus up to Victoria Peak where we found shops which were very reasonable. We bought chop sticks which were personalized for free. We bought lovely souvenirs and t shirts at very reasonable prices. There is a tram which goes all the way to Victoria Peak.
We were in Nagasaki on February 26th - two weeks before the Japan earthquake occurred. We offer our heartfelt condolences to all who have suffered losses in this major catastrophe. The devastation that occurred in this once beautiful country filled with such kind, gentle and lovely people is unbelievably tragic and we pray that order will eventually be restored.
I don't know how much damage Nagasaki experienced. When we were there it was a lively and bustling city with trams and trains that we use to get around the city.
Our only experience in Sydney was seeing the harbor from the ship. It is the most amazing sight in the world! To see the Harbor Bay Bridge on one side and the Opera House on the other with islands scattered about was breathtaking!
