Parked one mile from town. This was the first stop on a World Cruise and most clients had been in Bridgetown previously. After many sea days and force 11 in Biscay most wanted to stretch their legs rather than a day trip to the beaches
Parked in the town. Agree a price beforehand and then take a taxi to the public beaches. We paid $30 for six pax each way. At beach, first quote for six loungers and shades $100! Walked 200 metres and got day price $30 for six, including a beach boy. Five hours on beach and back to town for some shopping. It is not Duty free as we would know it.All the familar jewellery shops plus T shirts stacked high. Back on board two hours before sailaway.Ignore the famous we go without you sales pitch on excursions. In Aruba the ship is never too far away.
Here again bargained with a local guide with a people carrier. This time eight pax did the same tour as the ship for one third of the price. Saw the divers from viewing platforms around the cliffs. Did not use Hotel terrace recommended by ship.We were out for two and a half hours, saw the houses of faded Hollywood stars and were back to ship two hours before departure time.
