Puerto Vallarta
Port Rating:
PV is nice if you stay on the bus or in the car, but that's about it. The town is simply run-down, tired, and dirty. Our excursion was A Taste of Mexico, and it was mediocre at best. If I get back to PV again, I would prefer to stay on the ship.

Mazatlan
Port Rating:
This is more of a working port than PV, but a bit more enjoyable and not as run-down. Our shore excursion was Salsa y Salsa, and it was wonderful--very well done and lots of fun. Plus, it was held at a wonderfully upscale hotel, which really made a huge difference, compared to the restaurant in PV.

Cabo San Lucas
Port Rating:
We had no shore excursion planned for Cabo and just went ashore and walked about for a while, then took a small glass-bottom boat tour which was quite nice. They dropped us off at "The Office" for lunch on the beach--a very nice place for lunch--and then picked us up an hour later, all for a very reasonable price. Compared to Mazatlan and PV, Cabo is very much younger, alive and clean, more scenic, and more accessible.
