We were lucky to get a local driver to take 6 of us and show us the area. We had a good day out but there is really very little to see - one highlight however was when he took us off road to a tree oozing frankinsense, and demonstating the burning and smell.
Dubai is something else - futureworld. In the port terminal you can book 'the big bus' There are two routes and you really need the whole day to do both routes. The internet is free to use for 20 minutes.
There is a fitness class most days at 8 am. The instructor, Tanya, is excellent.
The food, wherever you choose to dine is first class.
