The problem with a large cruise ship is that it usually berths at uninteresting container terminals a long way from the excitement of the port and the passengers are transported by shuttle bus.The ship run bus tours to Bangkok included a 4 hour return bus ride-so we opted for the shorter free shuttle to Pattaya beach.
Once again we berthed at Phu My a 5 hour return drive to Ho Chi Minh City so we opted for the free shuttle to Baria and then a cab to Vung Tau- a very enjoyable day.
Na trang rated 5
This was a tender port very enjoyable with great markets
Hong Kong is a fabulous port for sight seeing and shopping and really deserves an overnight stop however a lot can be seen in 1 day....pity we couldn't berth at the Ocean Terminal.
Shanghai rated 5.....a great port for sightseeing and especially shopping
The only port we berthed close to the city.We took a tram ride to Peace Park and the Atomic Bomb museum which was very moving. Not many passengers returning to the ship with purchases here.
Busan rated 4....quite interesting especially the fish markets
Beijing rated 5...the end of our cruise and a very interesting place to visit. the ship berthed at Xingang 140 kilometers from Beijing and the ships transfer cost by bus was $us80pp.We took a local bus to the town of Nanguu then a train the the town of Tianjin and the Bullet train to Beijing all for a cost of $us16pp
