We were there on a Sunday when most of the stores are closed but a lot of them opened for us. Very nice town with everything within walking distance. Food was really good and reasonably priced. Two local girls were playing in a square and that added a nice touch. A bus was provided to take us from the ship to town and that was a help. The information booth was right as we got off the bus which was a huge help! Shop workers very friendly. If one didn't speak English well they'd find one who could.
Took shuttle to town that the ship provided for a small fee. Got on the red Hop on Hop off Bus. It sped through the sights not stopping or even slowing down for look. One of the commentators on the bus(was taped) you could hardly hear. The bus is good for an overview but you really need to ride it twice so you can get it to stop when you see something you want to look at further. Took the cable car ride. Well worth it-views are spectacular! Went to the market-fruit vendors very pushy! Market very crowded but worth the visit. Have never seen so many types of fruit in one place.
Did a shore excursion-whale watching. I thought it was a tad expensive. Went out on a catamaran not far from the land to see pilot whales. They were very small-looked like black dolphins. We did see a lot of them. They fed us on the boat-green salad, chicken patty, pasta salad, potatoe, roll, drinks(water, juice, beer). We got to swim which was nice. The bus ride there and back was interesting. Got to see the resort area and wind farms. The tour guide on the bus was very nice and gave lots of good info about the island. This excursion took the whole time so you really couldn't tour any of the island.
