Too similar to Noumea for my taste, however we did do a snorkel tour here. The chap who took us out was telling us how he had been doing tours for so long and how he was behind most of the tour companies on the island so we should have complete confidence in him.,anyway when he took the boat to the snorkel area he threw the anchor over the side,it probably might have been better if he had a rope attached to it though,so he spent the next 10 minutes under water trying to find the anchor, there were reef sharks and rays in the area, the sharks kept there distance but the rays came up close,it was a good day.
Much nicer port to visit, again we did a snorkel tour here...as a point of interest as well for anyone looking at doing snorkelling over there, most tours do not provide fins(flippers) and the other equipment is only average,so having your own gear is highly recommended. We also hired a car and drove around the island $85 for 4 hours was okay and it sure beat walking in the heat.
A nice location, and probably the pick of them all for shark and ray snorkel tours, also a second tour around the island is advised with a stop in at "Bloody Marys" a must do
