Took sea plane to Neets Bay to see the bears. Excellent. Saw 2 from about 10 feet away. They were happy eating their salmon and other than the occasional glance to see if we were there they ignored us. Good explanation about salmon breeding and bear behaviour. Free water and snack provided. Advice: we were lucky and got last 2 tickets and we booked within 2hours of embarkation. If you fancy this (and I highly recommend it) then book on-line before you leave home.
Glacier walking via helicopter. All equipment and outer clothes provided. Fantastic experience. Longer trip allows climbing the glacier. Guide experienced and enthusiastic. Great views from the helicopter. Expensive but worth it.
Weren't going to do anything here but were advised , and other passengers confirmed, that there is very little to do in Prince Rupert. Did the Zodiac whale watching trip courtesy of a cancellation (thanks whoever you were.) Felt like we were never going to see anything but suddenly, after approx 40mins, we saw a group of 8 humpback whales from approx 20metres away, bubble feeding and diving. Absolutely mesmerising and not long enough. Didn't want to leave. Obviously being nature this isn't guaranteed but wouldn't hesitate to take my chances again. Bear in mind the Zodiac is like a posh motorised blow up dinghy but you are provided with inflatable suits and it felt good zipping along the basically still ocean with sun shining and wind blowing across your face.
