lovely clean safe city , taxis plentiful and reasonably priced obviously you need more then a port of call to see this city but if you just have a day take a sightseeing tour, if you like flowers go to the orchid garden in the botanical gardens beautiful and quite extensive, if you like birds jurong bird park is lovely , and if animals in general go to the zoo but both need at least 4-5 hours to do them justice, there are shopping malls galore but the shops are much the same as in the west. china town has a lovely indian temple and Chinese temple take the MRT to chinatown which is a few stops from harbour town where the cruise terminal is, get off and read the overhead signs and find the pagoda street exit which will take you into the markets,( or take taxi) at the end of the street on the corner is the indian temple and past that further down the street is a magnificent chinese bhuddist temple, the indian temple you must take off your shoes and pay $3 singapore to take photos but it is beautiful inside (take an old pair of socks to put on to keep feet or stockings clean)the chinese temple you only have to take off your hat and you can take photos just keep out of worshippers way. the shops and stalls in china town or Singapore in general don't open till 1000 or 1100 o clock but the temples are open earlier. another thing to do is walk from the merlion statue ( near the fullerton hotel)down to Clark quay on one side then go over the bridge and walk back on the other side there is lots of lovely sculptures to see on both side some quite small so look out for them.
